The Story:
During our city walks, pigeons are often our unnoticed companions. Many people dislike them, others don’t even notice them, and then there are a few who see their beauty. Since we cannot change the fact that they share our cities, it is worth changing our perspective instead. By looking for the beauty in them, they can become a frequent source of joy. Next time, look into a pigeon’s eye and try to read its thoughts. It might seem strange at first, but believe me, it works.

Artist’s Note:
I lived on the 10th floor of an apartment building as a child, and one Christmas, the ‘Angel’ brought us a rooted pine tree. In January, the little tree was moved to my bedroom balcony, and soon after, I noticed a pair of pigeons joyfully taking over the base of the tree. I watched with excitement, waiting for the beautiful chicks to hatch. But I was in for a surprise—I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a pigeon chick, but if not, let’s just say they would likely finish last in a pet beauty contest. Regardless, I watched them grow up every day with pure wonder.

Why “Time Capsule”?
I am painting this series for my children, hoping they will pass them down through generations. I want these works to act as a visual diary of their ancestors’ lives 10 or even 100 years from now—a legacy that inspires them to seek out their own moments of awe.
