The Story:
The objects around us speak to us. Every one of them has a story, and everyone reads them differently. This spectrum can be quite extreme. For some, an old telephone might be a fond memory, while others might not even know what it’s for. It can be a great conversation starter to marvel at an object near you and discuss what it conveys to each of you.

Artist’s Note:
When I opened my new studio, my mother-in-law gave me a telephone as a gift—the same kind I used as a child. I still love having these objects around me; things we used to use long ago that have now become mere decorations. These types of ‘sculptures’ have their own history, adding much more to our living space than we might think. Moreover, this specific phone has sparked wonder and questions from many children coming to my studio workshops: “Which one is the delete button?”

Why “Time Capsule”?
I am painting this series for my children, hoping they will pass them down through generations. I want these works to act as a visual diary of their ancestors’ lives 10 or even 100 years from now—a legacy that inspires them to seek out their own moments of awe.
